Chalk Fest 2022

Chalk art is an art form dating back to 16th century Italy when artists traveled from town to town hoping their creations would entice spectators to throw a few coins their way. Chalk art all but disappeared in the early 1900s, but recently has experienced a resurgence. Chalk art festivals currently take place all over the country. We are excited to add Temple Terrace to that list!

The 1st annual family-friendly Temple Terrace Chalk Festival is scheduled for Saturday, February 26 from 10am to 2pm. Taking place at Woodmont Park, 407 Woodmont Ave., and the 1st fairway of the Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club, the event will include live music and other entertainment, an artisan market, a kids’ art zone, food vendors, a beer tent – and, of course, fabulous and fanciful chalk art by professional artists. More information on the artists being featured will be forthcoming.

Watch the artists' creations come to life as you shop select arts & crafts vendors, enjoy food truck fare and sip a brew or two from the Temple Terrace Golf & Country Club while listening to live music. Want to get in on the fun? The City also will host an amateur chalk art competition for individuals or teams. There is a $50 entry fee (chalk provided). Prizes will be awarded. Interested? Call John Swick at 813.506.6600 to register.

Sponsorship and volunteer opportunities currently are available. If interested, call Recreation Leader John Swick at 813.506.6600 or by email him at Sponsorship forms also are available here.

All proceeds will be used by the Leisure Services Dept. to support children’s and public art projects in the City.
