RESIDENTIAL GARBAGE SERVICE
The City of Temple Terrace provides twice per week curbside garbage collection and once per week "green bin" recycling collection. Every Wednesday yard waste is collected throughout the entire City for recycling. The City also provides a free once-a-year special pickup for households (effective January 2009), which replaces the former Spring Cleanup.

Effective Oct. 1, 2008, the charge for residential garbage service
is $23.29 monthly.

Note: There is no residential garbage or recycling collection on official City holidays, which are:

RESIDENTIAL RECYCLING
The City of Temple Terrace provides once per week curbside pick up of "green bin" recycling items. Pick up day for the recycling bin is determined by location of the residence. Items should be placed in the City-issued recycling container and be at curbside by 7 a.m.
on the appropriate collection day.

Recycling items collected at curbside are:

• Aluminum Cans - Drink cans only.
• Steel / Tin Cans - Food cans only.
• Mixed Paper - Newspapers, magazines, junk mail, phone books, etc.
• Plastic - Household bottles or containers.
• Glass - Green, brown, clear bottles/jars only.

YARD WASTE RECYCLING
Yard waste recycling is collected every Wednesday. Disposal regulations prohibit us from collecting yard waste with normal garbage. All grass clippings, leaves, tree branches shorter than 3 feet in length and less than 5 inches in diameter - should be bundled and tied, or containerized for yard waste recycling pickup on Wednesdays. Yard waste should be placed at curbside by 7 a.m. on Wednesdays. (If possible, grass clippings and leaves should be placed in containers rather than plastic yard bags. The yard waste recycling facility considers plastic yard bags a contaminant and they must be removed before delivery to the recycling site.)

SPECIAL TRASH PICKUPS
The City provides special trash pickup service for larger items that do not meet pre-collection requirements such as furniture, appliances, tree limbs, etc. Items must be placed at curbside and pickups are scheduled in the order in which they are called in to the Public Works Department. Homeowners are eligible for one special pickup a year at no charge (effective January 2009). There is a charge for each additional special pickup. The service that is added to the resident's monthly utility bill.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. How do I dispose of unwanted household chemicals?
A. Temple Terrace residents may dispose of unwanted household chemicals at Hillsborough County's monthly collection locations. Dates and locations of the county collection sites may be obtained by calling Hillsborough County Solid Waste Department at 272-5680.

Q. Why are we asked to use a City-issued recycling bin?
A. A number of residents recycling day also falls on their garbage collection day, and the recycling collector is looking for the City-issued bin as he drives down your street. This is how he knows there is recycling to pick up. Also, the City-issued bin fits on the side of the recycling truck while the driver sorts the recycling items into the various compartments on the truck.

COMMERCIAL SANITATION SERVICES
The City of Temple Terrace provides containers (dumpsters) and their servicing to both commercial and multi-family sites. Monthly charges are based on container size and pick up frequency. For those sites where the volume of refuse is insufficient to warrant the larger containers (dumpsters), the City provides commercial can collection. The City does not provide the containers for the commercial can collection.

COMPACTOR/CONSTRUCTION ROLL-OFF SERVICE
The City of Temple Terrace provides the servicing of roll-off compactor units to all commercial/multi-family sites choosing to utilize a privately owned/leased compactor.

City of Temple Terrace residents and business owners may occasionally have a need for large scale solid waste disposal. This is generally associated with remodeling, construction or demolition activities. Twenty- and thirty-yard construction roll-off units are available by calling the Public Works Department at 506-6570.

The total cost for this service includes the delivery/set up fee, the charge for emptying the container (pull charge) and the actual disposal cost per ton depending on whether the contents are "processable," "non-processable" or "C & D" per Hillsborough County Solid Waste regulations, and wash and showup fees, if applicable.

COMMERCIAL AND MULTIFAMILY RECYCLING
The City of Temple Terrace provides cardboard and mixed-grade paper recycling service to high-volume generators within the commercial sector. This is accomplished by providing centralized, specially painted, lockable containers (dumpsters) to plazas, business centers and other high-volume commercial locations.

The City also provides recycling service to multifamily complexes not on the curbside service program. This is accomplished through the use of compartmentalized roll-off units at a centralized location within each complex.
