ABOUT PUBLIC WORKS

The Public Works Department consists of seven divisions: Sanitation, Sewer, Water, Streets, Facility Maintenance, Central Garage, and Central Warehouse under the supervision of Public Works Administration.

The Public Works Administration provides general supervision, departmental level management, and administrative support to all seven divisions within the department.

This includes the following activities:

• Responding to inquiries, documenting and tracking all service requests and work orders, as well as monitoring the quality of service delivery in each of the 18 programs.
• Ensuring that customers are properly informed about departmental services through media releases, mailings, and presentations.
• Reviewing all development plans as part of the Development Review Committee (DRC) to ensure conformance with infrastructure requirements.
• Coordinating all permitting, reporting, and corresponding with regulatory agencies having jurisdiction over activities within the various programs.
• Providing management direction, personnel services, and administrative support for 70 department employees.
• Developing, coordinating, and managing the 18 departmental program operating budgets totaling over $13 million.
• Operating and maintaining the Public Works Complex which houses personnel, equipment, and activities of the City's Public Works and Engineering Departments, as well as the Parks Division of the City's Parks and Recreation Department.
