Q. Do I have to swipe my membership card every time I come to the Family Complex?
A. Yes. Entries are recorded in the computer for attendance reports. These reports are used to best distribute staff and other Department resources during heavy usage times.
Q. In the Fitness Room do I have to have my own towel?
A. Yes. There is no sharing or loaning of towels.
Q. Do you have a transportation program for senior citizens that will take them to places they need to go?
A. Yes, however the program is restricted to non-driving senior residents of Temple Terrace. Transportation is to places in our local area and days/times are limited. Appointments can be made by calling the Lightfoot Center at 506-6630.
Q. Can I get a complete listing of all the Parks and Recreation Departments programs and activities?
A. The department publishes a semi-annual brochure - The Recreator - available at the Family Recreation Complex, Lightfoot Recreation Center, City Hall, Public Works and the Library. The brochure is also available online from the link on the Parks and Recreation Home page. The brochure cannot be mailed.
Q. Can I register for activities over the phone?
A. Registration for some classes can be done by phone by members only. Call the Family Recreation Complex (506-6600) during posted registration days and times. The person being added to the class must have a valid membership and that number must be given over the phone. Class payment can be made to the instructor at the first class. All other registrations must be done in person and requires payment at that time.
Q. Can anyone use the sports fields at the different sports complexes?
A. No. Use of any sports field requires a permit from the Parks and Recreation Department. These permits are issued from the main recreation office at the Family Recreation Complex.
Q. Do I need a membership to play tennis at the City's 3 tennis facilities?
A. Yes and No. No fees are required at the Whiteway Hard Courts or at the Riverhills Park tennis courts. A recreation membership or a daily fee is required to play at the Family Recreation Complex clay courts. Advance reservations for playing times can be made by members.
Q. How do I contact the Parks and Recreation Department?
A. The easiest way is to call the Family Recreation Complex at (813) 506-6600. From there the Customer Service Staff can direct you to the correct division.
