This state-of-the-art facility is the pride of Temple Terrace. Complex amenities include a new tennis center with six clay courts, three air conditioned indoor gymnasiums including two with hardwood floors, gymnastics center complete with spring floor, two dance/aerobic studios with hardwood floors, two classrooms, 3600 sq. ft. fitness center, aquatic area featuring a heated main pool (25 yards x 25 meters), fun pool with a 152 ft. water slide, kiddie pool, and a water playground. The facility also offers six lighted racquetball courts, two lighted outdoor basketball courts, and two lighted sand volleyball courts. Swimming pools/aquatics area and gymnastics center are available for rent for private parties. Gymnasiums and athletic fields are available for use for games and tournaments. Permits are required. The Lightfoot Recreation Center is located on the corner of 56th Street and Whiteway Drive. This facility is home to the City's Senior Citizen Program which offers resident seniors a hot lunch served daily as well as a variety of daily activities Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. In addition, a variety of special interest classes are offered at the facility Monday through Thursday from 3 p.m.- 9 p.m. The facility is host to many special events, such as the Annual Senior Games, Senior Expo, community and teen events. The Lightfoot Center, with stage and large open space, is available for rent for civic groups' events, business meetings, expos, seminars, parties, receptions, recitals, and other activities.
COMMUNITY PARKS Riverhills Park - (34.45 acres) is located east of 56th Street on Riverhills Drive next to Riverhills Elementary School. This beautiful park offers access to the Hillsborough River by providing a boat ramp and dock. A picnic area set under the cypress and oaks provides picnic tables, grills, gazebo, shelter, and boardwalk that winds along the riverfront. Additional amenities include a large playground area, two newly renovated tennis courts, and restrooms. Riverhills Park gazebo may be reserved for parties and other functions by calling 989-7180. The park is adopted by the Woman's Club. Rotary Park - (3.1 acres) is located at Fowler Avenue and the Hillsborough River. This park is equipped with a boat ramp, restrooms, picnic tables, and barbecue grills. The park has been adopted by the Temple Terrace Rotary Club. Scout Park - (15.6 acres) is located at the south end of Riverhills Park. As a nature preserve, this park offers two miles of mulched trails available for public enjoyment. The park is sponsored by the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America and offers camping to scout organizations only. West River Preserve - (5.6 acres) is located on the South side of West River Dr. This untouched piece of property extends along the northern bank of the Hillsborough River and offers a vista unlike any other available through the City's park system. Planning for future development has begun, however, efforts to keep the site in a natural setting will be the focus. Woodmont Park - (1.86 acres) is located on Woodmont Avenue across from the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club. The Woodmont Clubhouse Association provides yearly improvements with matching funds offered through the City's Civic Improvement Program. The clubhouse and gazebo are available for weddings and special events. For reservations call 985-7769.
Ben Lomond Park - (1.65 acres) is located on the corner of North Riverhills Drive and Ben Lomond Drive. Nestled beneath the oaks, this neighborhood park offers a playground, water fountain, and picnic tables. This park has been adopted by the University Area Civitan Club. Biltmore Park - (2.09 acres) is located one block north of Riverhills Elementary School between South Glen Arven and Riverhills Drive. This was the City's first park. Equipped with a basketball court, playground, picnic tables, benches, drinking fountain, trash receptacles, new signage, landscaping, and irrigation. Additional improvements have been made possible through a grant awarded by the Florida Recreation Development Assistant Program. This park has been adopted by the Kiwanis Club. Billy Graham Garden/Preservation Park - (.2 acres) is located on N. Riverhills Dr. at Florida College. As one of Temple Terrace's newest park sites, Billy Graham Garden offeres a wonderful vista of the Hillsborough River. Tucked in along the banks of the river underneath oaks and cypress, this park is known as one of the areas Rev. Billy Graham used to frequent while in school. Because of the gentle slope of the property, abundance of shade, and tranquil view of the Hillsborough River, the park is and ideal place to sit and enjoy the natural beauty of Temple Terrace, read, or just enjoy the quiet. This park has been adopted by the Temple Terrace Preservation Society. Bonnie Brae Park - (2.42 acres) is located just south of Druid Hills on Bonnie Brea Boulevard. This park is equipped with a dinosaur theme playground, sand volleyball, basketball court, picnic tables, and shade trees. This park has become popular for playgroups and picnics. Bonnie Brae Park has been adopted by the Junior Woman's Club. Serena Park - (.81 acres) is located at the corner of 52nd Street and Serena Drive. With park benches nestled under the oaks, this park is currently undeveloped, but will be master planned for future development. University Square Playground - (.42 acres) is a neighborhood park located within a townhouse complex. Amenities include an all-purpose court, tennis court, and a children's playground. Location: Heading north on 56th Street, turn left (west) on Mission Hills Drive and then right on 52nd Street.
