WATER SHORTAGE
Strict Watering Rules in Effect for Temple Terrace
Unusually low groundwater levels have prompted the Southwest Florida Water Management District to institute once-a-week
lawn-watering restrictions throughout west central Florida, including the City of Temple Terrace.
The new rules are mandatory. They took effect Jan. 16, 2007 and have been extended until June 30, 2008.
Lawn watering in Temple Terrace and throughout the District's 16-county jurisdiction will follow a schedule based on homeowners' addresses. Addresses ENDING in the following numbers may only irrigate on:
Ending in 0 or 1 - Monday
Ending in 2 or 3 - Tuesday
Ending in 4 or 5 - Wednesday
Ending in 6 or 7 - Thursday
Ending in 8 or 9 - Friday
Homeowners may water their lawns ONLY before 8 a.m. or after 6 p.m. and ONLY on their appointed day. Special variances are available for newly planted lawns by calling the Temple Terrace Public Works Department and registering.
* Homeowners should apply fertilizers or pesticides on their appointed watering day.
* Fountains and other aesthetic-only features may only operate 8 hours a day.
* Car washing is limited to one day per week, using a hose with a nozzle.
Temple Terrace Police, Code Compliance officers and Public Works employees will keep an eye out for violators. First-time violators will be issued a warning. Subsequent violations could result in a citation of $25 or more.
Anyone with questions about the new watering restrictions should contact the Temple Terrace Public Works Department
at (813) 989-7170.
