About Temple Terrace

Historic Temple Terrace
The historic City of Temple Terrace originally was promoted as “Tampa’s most beautiful suburb” and home to one of the nation’s first master-planned golf course communities featuring an elite country club lifestyle. The city-owned, privately leased golf course was recently placed on the prestigious National Register of Historic Places. Incorporated in 1925, Temple Terrace became the third of three cities in Hillsborough County, Florida. This Amazing City has long held a reputation as being a hidden gem nestled on the banks of the Hillsborough River, adjacent to the northeast border of Tampa. The city is proud to hold a Tree City USA designation, as well as being the only city in Florida designated as a multimodal community. For most of its history, Temple Terrace has thrived, while also maintaining its identity as Hillsborough County’s best-kept secret and as a haven for University of South Florida faculty and personnel (which percentage-wise makes it one of the more educated communities in the region). Temple Terrace also is home to Florida College, a four-year liberal arts college

A Plan For The Future
Throughout the past several decades, surrounding areas have become increasingly more developed, resulting in a much more competitive environment for recruiting new businesses, attracting families and building upon existing amenities and services vital for the city to prosper and grow.

Temple Terrace now finds itself at a critical juncture in its history. To maintain a competitive edge, the city has embarked upon an ambitious mixed-use, walkable downtown redevelopment project, as well as pursuing other initiatives to promote and market our community. These initiatives are designed to inspire a renewed energy for rejuvenation and to promote Temple Terrace as a forward-thinking city that offers a quality of life second to none in the region.
