How do I get to the Human Resources office?
The address is 11250 No. 56th Street on the 2nd floor of City Hall. City Hall is located approximately one (1) block south of Fowler Avenue on the right side of 56th Street.
Does the Human Resources Office accept resumes via fax or by mail?
Resumes are accepted for any position; however, our employment application must be completed prior to beginning employment.
I am interested in applying for more than one posted position. Do I need to fill out a separate application for each of those positions?
Yes. In order to ensure that your application receives the attention it deserves, you will need to submit a separate application for each position that interests you. The Human Resources Department will then forward each application to the appropriate department for further consideration.
How long must I wait before I know whether my application has been accepted?
All posted position positions remain open until filled by a qualified applicant. Generally, the hiring authority will select a top candidate for the position within 2-6 weeks. You may e-mail or call anytime to find out the status of the position.
Are you currently recruiting for firefighters and/or police officers?
The City advertises for these positions on a continuous basis. Applications are maintained in an active file for one (1) year. Both police and firefighter applicants must be certified.

What are the requirements for becoming a police officer?
You must have graduated from high school, or possess a G.E.D.; completion of the minimum standards set by the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission prior to being certified as a Police Officer, and possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Florida driver's license.
What are the requirements for becoming a firefighter?
You must have graduated from high school, or possess a G.E.D.; be a nonuser of tobacco or tobacco products for at least one year immediately preceding application (affidavit required); possession of Paramedic and EMT Certification or currently enrolled in paramedic school; possession of State of Florida Firefighter Certification as set forth by the Firefighter's Standards Council, and possession of a valid Florida Chauffeur's License.
