CASUALTIES
The Department experienced one civilian and one firefighter casualty; all were minor injuries. The firefighter injury was an eye injury and the civilian injury was the result of a burn.
FIRE INSPECTION/PLAN REVIEW
The Department completed 463 inspections and 141 plan reviews. Some of the major construction projects that were reviewed include the Hidden Oaks Subdivision, Raintree Woods Subdivision, Village Oaks Apartments, Florida Orthopedic Medical Building, Reproductive Center, Christ Our Redeemer Classroom, Greco Middle School, and Corpus Christi School.

EDUCATION/COMMUNITY SERVICES
Throughout the year, the Fire Department trained over 10,855 customers/citizens. Programs included fire station tours, fire education puppet shows, and the monthly CPR training classes. The largest attended events were the Fire Prevention Open House, the School Fire Education Blitz, and the Great American Teach-In.
AUTOMATIC EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATORS (AEDs)
The City has been a leader in promoting Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) both locally and regionally. The City has made a commitment to become a Heart Safe Community by supporting Public Access Defibrillation (PAD). The Department continues to train and recertify all City employees and has installed AEDs in the City’s:

Because of the Countywide effort promoting Public Access Defibrillation, over eight lives have been saved since the program implementation as a result of the layperson’s utilizing an AED on a patient with sudden cardiac arrest. Listed herein are AED saves in the Tampa Bay area.
