OPERATIONS

The Operations Division includes all emergency and
non-emergency responses made by the department's fire and medical teams. The Operations Division oversees and maintains manpower, equipment, vehicles, training and communications and protects lives and property in the City from all hazards. This is achieved by managing staffing, training, equipment and other apparatus to provide City residents with fire, paramedic medical treatment and protection from threats to life and property.

CANINE TEAM
The Temple Terrace Fire Department Canine Team is comprised of a single handler and two search and rescue canines. Driver Engineer Hall and her canines, Shade and Trapper, have worked diligently to maintain their Florida USAR certifications. This past year, the Canine Team continued to diversify the canines’ searching capabilities. Driver Engineer Hall, Shade and Trapper were deployed twice times during the year for Hurricanes Katrina and Wilma.

CHAPLAIN PROGRAM
In 2002, the Fire Department established a comprehensive chaplaincy program and it is comprised of four clergy members: Reverend Jeff Williams, Reverend David Kelley, Reverend Gary McNeal, Reverend Chris McNickel, and Reverend Mark Roath. They are available to the Fire Department on a 24/7 basis. During the 2005 year, the chaplains responded to six emergencies in the community.

The program was designed to provide Fire Department personnel and the community with timely assistance if there is a firefighter’s critical injury or death, a citizen or visitor crises, or if the incident commander requests the chaplain’s services in an emergency operation.

The Chaplain Program assists and guides the Department personnel during times of stress or difficulties.  These services include visits to hospitalized department members and their families, personal counseling, referrals to appropriate community agencies for assistance, and conducting funerals or memorials.
