Firefighter/Paramedic Joseph Cable Since 2008, Cable has been the lead instructor for the fire department’s Risk Watch safety program, which teaches third-graders how to identify safety risks and protect themselves from serious injury. More than 200 youngsters have graduated from the program since its inception, and the department’s goal is to have every Temple Terrace third-grader go through the program each year. “It takes a special person to keep a positive attitude and be a true motivator for an entire year,” said Assistant Fire Chief Ian Kemp in announcing the award. Cable, 28, also was cited for work with the fire department’s mapping system, pinpointing fire hydrant and Knox Box locations throughout the City to help reduce response times and improve efficiency. |
