A Temple Terrace resident for more than 25 years, Dr. Jurado has been active in many state and local service organizations including the Greater Federated Women’s Club of Temple Terrace and American Cancer Society Temple Terrace Relay for Life. She was twice named a finalist for Temple Terrace Citizen of the Year by the Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce.
A Certified WorkForce Professional (CWFP) who earned her doctorate degree in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Dr. Jurado is the founder of "The Profitable Group," a consulting and training organization committed to assisting organizations and businesses with performance improvement and team building since 1991. Her clients include Fortune 500 organizations, Inc. 500 companies, small businesses, governmental agencies, churches and not-for-profit organizations.
Dr. Jurado was appointed by Governor Rick Scott in 2011 to head the Florida Office of Early Learning and served as the agency’s statewide director for more than a year before returning to her practice. She also has served on the Hillsborough County’s Community Action Board and was chosen by Florida Governors Jeb Bush and Charlie Crist to serve as chair of the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County.
Mayor Jurado is committed to employing her skills from the private and public sectors to promote positive economic development city-wide and especially in the Temple Terrace redevelopment area.
