SCHEDULING AN INSPECTION

To schedule an inspection, call (813) 989-7002. You will be connected to our inspection request line, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When you schedule an inspection, please be prepared to give the following information:

Permit number
Address of the inspection
Contractor name
Type of inspection requested
Name and number of the caller

Inspections requested for the next business day should be called in before 5:00 p.m. Requests called in after 5:00 p.m. and left on the answering machine after hours will be scheduled for the second business day's schedule.

Inspectors are available in the office Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Inspectors typically plan their work day early in the morning. If there is a particular time you would like to request an inspection, please try to coordinate this with an inspector on the morning of the inspection. The inspectors are asked to work with you to set up inspection times, but we can generally only provide a window of time (AM or PM) and not a specific time. We will, however, attempt to do our very best to accommodate each person's individual schedule.

Inspections begin at 8:00 a.m. and all work must be ready for inspection at this time. If for some reason work is not ready for inspection, we ask that the inspection office be contacted and the inspection cancelled. This will avoid possible delays oin your project and avoid possible re-inspection fee for work not ready at the time of the inspection.

Some common problems that would cause delays and re-inspection fees are:

Permits not being posted
Approved building plans not on site
Work not completed and ready for inspection
Addresses not readily visible or missing
Work site not being accessible

If inspectors need to be contacted outside their office hours, the permit desk [(813) 989-7132] is able to contact them via radio and relay messages to them during the day.

Communication is the key to a successful inspection.

We recognize that there are times when emergency inspections may need to occur. We ask that you contact our office directly so that we can accommodate your needs. We will respond as quickly as possible.
