Creative writing, is a course led by Arleen Mariotti, will focus on fiction and creative nonfiction, although all genres are welcome. No previous writing experience is required. We will concentrate on developing an understanding of the essential components of creative writing such as setting, conflict, plot, characters and dialogue. The course will be organized as a process workshop so there will be sharing, discussion, revision of your work and friendly peer critiques. We will use short spontaneous exercises and longer assignments to motivate and refine your writing.

This eight-week introductory course, led by Patti Sanchez of the Diversity Initiative, is designed to provide students with the basic technical skills needed to use simple and basic ASL when communicating with Deaf people. This course will incorporate vocabulary, grammar, a basic understanding of Deaf culture and the Deaf community.
